51-year-old Paul Mittleman dead after fire tears through stores, apartment in Mattituck

One person is dead after a massive fire tore through a strip of stores in Mattituck Friday night.

Police say the blaze started in an apartment behind the stores, located on Route 25, at around 11 p.m. It took nine fire departments over three hours to get the fire under control.

Police say 51-year-old Paul Mittleman was found dead inside the apartment.
