ISLIP - Police say a 5-year-old girl drowned during a block party in Islip.

They say the incident happened at around 7:30 p.m. Saturday at a home on Columbine Avenue.

Officials say the child, Carissa Walker, of Farmingville, was found in a backyard pool.

Witnesses pulled her out of the water and started CPR until help arrived.

The girl was taken to a nearby hospital where she died.
