WOODBURY - Five Long Island students are a step closer to winning the prestigious Intel Science Talent Search competition.The whiz kids are among just 40 students from around the nation who made it to the finals today. The finalists include Juliana Coraor, 17, of Huntington High School; Rachel Davis, 18, of Smithtown High School East; Savina Kim, 17, of Commack High School; Neil Mehta, of Jericho High School; and Anna Sato, 17, of Ward Melville High School. The finalists all receive $7,500 to be used toward college and will go to Washington, D.C. in March, where the winner will be announced. That student will receive $100,000 from the Intel Foundation.For a complete list of the finalists, click here.
