WOODBURY - Authorities say at least four people are dead and dozens are injured after twisters tore through southern Massachusetts yesterday.

Gov. Deval Patrick (D-M.A.) declared a state of emergency when at least seven swirling tornadoes left 19 communities in ruins.

Officials say one person was killed in Springfield, two died in West Springfield, and a fourth was killed in Brimfield.

A tornado watch was in effect for parts of Long Island and New York City yesterday but the storm didn't bring much more than rain to the area.
