LONG BEACH - A 3-year-old boy is recovering after nearly drowning in a Long Beach pool.

According to the boy's uncle, the child was found floating face down at an apartment complex near the beach yesterday. There was no lifeguard on duty, but the boy's father pulled him out and started CPR.

Witnesses say that within minutes, rescue crews arrived on the scene. Lieutenant Lifeguard Tom McDonald says that nearly 10 lifeguards raced from the beach to help, along with the Long Beach Fire Department and EMTs.

A family member says the boy is in stable condition at the hospital.
