WASHINTON, DC - President Barack Obama hosted his final White House Science Fair Wednesday, and three students from Long Island were in attendance.
Kimberly Te and Christine Yoo, from Manhassett High School, are grand prize winners of the Siemens Competition in Math, Science & Technology.
The duo designed a system that uses loofah sponges to soak up oil from oil spills. Their process then turns the material into a source of clean energy.
Augusta Uwamanzu-Nna, from Elmont High School, was also in attendance. She created a chemical mixture that will improve sealing undersea cement.
Uwamanzu-Nna was also accepted to all eight Ivy League schools.
