WOODBURY - Three Long Island medical professionals are among more than a dozen people charged in a multimillion-dollar fraud and prescription pill scam.

Marie Baptista Nazaire, Reynat Glaz and Dr. Paul Edward McClung are among the 13 facing charges.

Bridget Brennan, special narcotics prosecutor for the city of New York, says three Brooklyn clinics placed 6.3 million narcotic pills onto the black market and billed $16 million in fraudulent reimbursement from Medicaid and Medicare.

Prosecutors say patients were supplied with prescriptions of oxycodone but also had to submit to unnecessary medical tests that were then billed to Medicare and Medicaid.

Officials say one of the clinics selling oxycodone prescriptions was run by McClung.

Authorities say a tip from a Nassau pharmacist in August 2013 and extensive wiretapping eventually led to the takedown of the alleged pill mills.

Former state Assemblyman Alec Brook-Krasny is also among the charged.

The DEA expects more arrests.
