WOODBURY - ? New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced today that 3,500 sex offenders have been booted from online video game networks including Xbox, Play Station and World of Warcraft.

Schneiderman?s office asked the companies who run those gaming systems to remove the sex offenders as part of a new initiative, dubbed Operation Game Over.

The move is the latest push to keep predators from targeting children. Many games allow players to talk anonymously online.

In New York, all registered sex offenders have to disclose all email accounts, screen names, and other online identities. To watch a news conference on Operation Game Over, go to channel 612 on your iO digital cable box and select the 'iO Extra' tab.
