CENTEREACH - A family in Centereach will be holding their second annual fundraiser for their two children who suffer from spinal muscular atrophy.

SMA is a degenerative disease that affects voluntary muscle movements. Last year, the Accardi family was able to raise more than $15,000 for 3-year-old Nicholas and 2-year-old Tyler. They were both featured on News 12.

The funds raised went toward the construction of a wheelchair ramp for their home. They hope to raise enough money to widen the hallways to make their home more wheelchair accessible.

The fundraiser will be held at Villa Lombardi's in Holbrook Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Anyone interested in attending or making a donation can call 631-416-0040 or 631-831-2143. The event will include food, raffles and an appearance by singer-songwriter Ariana Castelli.
