HUNTINGTON STATION - One of Long Island's largest malls is getting a makeover.

The Walt Whitman Mall is undergoing a major transformation. Officials say 27 stores are set to open their doors in 2013, in addition to the 17 that already opened in 2012.

The multimillion-dollar project includes 72,000 square feet of new mall space to be added to the Route 110 side of the site.

The new stores are expected to open in November.
