22-year-old killed in Southern State crash

A man was killed in a crash that shut down the eastbound lanes on the Southern State Parkway in West Hempstead Sunday morning.

WEST HEMPSTEAD - A man was killed in a crash that shut down the eastbound lanes on the Southern State Parkway in West Hempstead Sunday morning.

The crash occured shortly before 4 a.m. west of Exit 17. Police say an Acura collided with a Toyota Highlander, causing the Acura to crash into several trees and a utility pole.

Vito Errico, 22, of Oceanside, was killed in the crash.

Parts of the roadway were shut down for hours. The lanes have since been reopened.

State police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call 631-756-3300.
