20 LI Costco workers win Powerball jackpot

The sole winning ticket from last night's $201.9 million Powerball drawing that was sold in Lindenhurst went to a group of Long Islanders who work

LINDENHURST - The sole winning ticket from last night's $201.9 million Powerball drawing that was sold in Lindenhurst went to a group of Long Islanders who work at a big box store.

A store manager at the Costco in Melville says 20 of his employees are the lucky winners who will split the fortune.

The winners were keeping a low profile outside the store today, but inside they were congratulated by colleagues and customers alike.

The winning ticket was purchased at a stationary store on Montauk Highway by one of the Costco employees who shopkeepers say is a regular customer.

After taxes, it is estimated the 20 winners could walk away with $4 million each. Employees say their fortunate colleagues work as cashiers, office workers and greeters. Despite their newfound wealth, some of them apparently plan on coming back to work, while others are getting ready to move on.

Lottery officials say no one has officially turned in the ticket yet. Meanwhile, Costco managers say the 20 employees were given today and tomorrow off to celebrate and get their affairs in order.
