ROSLYN - Two Long Island volunteers are ringing in the New Year in an unlikely place, all to make the night a little brighter for others.

Longtime friends Rose Repke and Al Toma, both in their 90s, are bringing holiday cheer to people with heart problems at St. Francis Hospital. The two have been volunteers in the Pastoral Care Division for the past 18 years.

Repke and Toma have known each other for more than half a century, and say they hope to volunteer as long as they can walk.
