PATCHOGUE - Two teens have been arrested for scrawling hateful and offensive graffiti at a Patchogue elementary school playground, police say.

On March 29, school officials at Bay Avenue Elementary School alerted police to the graffiti that was found on playground equipment. The vandalism included swastikas, the letters KKK, racial epithets and a phallic symbol, according to police.

Detectives with the Suffolk police Hate Crimes Unit say they arrested two 14-year-olds, who are charged with making graffiti, a misdemeanor. The two teens were issued appearance tickets and were released to their parents.

The teens' identities were not released because of their age.
