2 St. Anthony's High School students suspended for bringing Confederate flag to game
SOUTH HUNTINGTON - Two students at St. Anthony's High School in South Huntington have been suspended for bringing a Confederate flag into the school gym during a game.
The two seniors showed up during an evening handball tournament last Wednesday, and one of them had the Confederate flag draped across his shoulders, according to St. Anthony's Principal Brother Gary Cregan.
A photo was snapped of the student wearing the flag. The next day, both students received a 10-day suspension.

Cregan says he also made an announcement expressing his "utter disgust" with the students' actions.
Several parents who spoke with News 12 say it's concerning that an image that evokes intolerance and racism for many made an appearance at the Catholic school.
However, the New York Civil Liberties Union told News 12 in a statement that it has concerns if the students were suspended for simply displaying the flag.
