2 police officers help deliver baby in Medford

MEDFORD - Two Suffolk police officers helped make a special delivery in Medford Sunday morning.

Ana Yanes-Moran told News 12 through a translator that she suddenly went into labor at her Southaven Avenue home.

Police officers James Caporale and Paul Rocchio got the call and rushed to the scene. It was the first time Officer Caporale ever took a delivery call. Officer Rocchio said he has helped two other women give birth, but said in those cases ambulance crews arrived and took the lead.

"It was a very positive point in my career," he said.

Yanes-Moran and baby Elizabeth are doing fine. The mother had a simple message for the officers who helped her: "Thank you."
