2 Plainview home invasions occur within hours

PLAINVIEW - Nassau police are searching for at least one suspect after two Plainview homes were burglarized within hours of each other.

According to investigators, an 18-year-old girl was alone and upstairs in her Eton Place home when she heard noises downstairs last night. Police say when the girl checked, she saw a man in the house and was able to call police without him noticing her. The suspect, however, was able to get away before officers arrived, taking some jewelry with him.

Earlier in the day, an 84-year-old man was walking into his house when he was confronted by a stranger who ordered him into a room, where his wife was watching TV. The suspect was able to take money, credit cards, a cell phone, and jewelry from the Azalea Court home.

Officials have not said whether these two crimes are related. Police are asking anyone with information to call Nassau Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
