LONG BEACH - Two more supermarkets once owned by the A&P chain are becoming Stop & Shop stores on Long Island.

The Waldbaum's in Long Beach and the Pathmark in Franklin Square will reopen as Stop & Shop stores one week from today, according to Newsday.

Stop & Shop bought nine Long Island supermarkets from the defunct A&P chain.

Despite that, hundreds of supermarket workers have received layoff notices.

Some could be hired by chains buying the stores including Stop & Shop, Best Market and ShopRite.
