WYANDANCH - Police say two men were caught on camera stealing a donation jar that was collecting money for a sick child.

Authorities say two men worked together to steal the collected money from Wyandanch Beer Company. One of the men distracted the cashier, while the other stuffed the cash inside his hooded sweatshirt.

Police say the two men stole between $30 and $40 from the jar.

The store's owner told News 12 that the money was being set aside by his father for a family friend in the Dominican Republic. The friend’s daughter is currently fighting a debilitating disease and her family is struggling to pay her medical bills.

The Suffolk County Police Department is urging anyone with information about the theft to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. A $5,000 reward is being offered to anyone with information leading to an arrest.
