DIX HILLS - Two firefighters were injured battling a blaze last night at the Half Hollow Hills School District Transportation Center in Dix Hills.

Fire officials say more than 100 firefighters responded to the blaze, which destroyed a bus inside the building and caused extensive damage throughout the facility.

One of the injured firefighters suffered bruised ribs after falling into an open pit, while the other suffered smoke inhalation and heat exhaustion.

Officials say both injured firefighters are fine and the cause of the blaze is being investigated.
