WOODBURY - At least two people are dead in the Northeast following the wild weather that never quite hammered Long Island.A Brooklyn man was killed near a church by falling scaffolding that was loosened by an apparent lightning strike, and a camper was hit by a falling tree in Pennsylvania.Police say a bolt of lightning may have struck a Twin Drive home in Middle Island, where an 18-year-old felt a shock just after 8 p.m. last night. He was rushed to the hospital, but officials say he's OK.Elmira in upstate New York seems to have suffered the brunt of the storm.
