BAY SHORE - Officials have reported two crashes on Sunrise Highway that occurred less than a mile and a few minutes apart yesterday.

Police say the first crash happened just before exit 43 on the eastbound side of Sunrise Highway.

According to police, one driver's car collided with a broken-down car in the middle lane.

The female driver suffered minor injuries. The driver of the broken down car wasn't in the vehicle at the time.

About 15 minutes later, traffic delays from the first accident contributed to a four-car crash about a half-mile away.

Police say three people were rushed to the hospital in that crash and they suffered minor injuries.

No charges have been filed in either crash.
