PORT JEFFERSON STATION - Two high school coaches are being called heroes today for saving the life of a teen who went into cardiac arrest on the basketball court.The incident happened Wednesday night during an intramural basketball game in the Comsewogue School District. Coaches Justin Seifert and Rick Miekley performed CPR and used a defibrillator to get the heart of the 17-year-old girl beating again."It was a little surreal, but I just took the opportunity to use the skills I've been taught and just be calm," Miekley says. Newsday says the girl who collapsed, junior Hope Reindl, suffered an arrhythmia. She is now recovering.
