WOODBURY - The Nassau County Department of Health says 19 beaches that were closed yesterday due to rain runoff have been reopened.

The beaches had been closed due to an elevated risk of bacteria in the water. Health officials say all county beaches are open today, and it is safe to go swimming again.

The North Shore had 14 beaches closed, while 5 were closed on the South Shore.
