PORT WASHINGTON - Dozens of rescued puppies and dogs arrived on Long Island today and are now looking for new homes.

Over the past few weeks, the North Shore Animal League rescue group toured the Midwest and saved dogs from puppy mills and overcrowded shelters.

Today, 150 of the dogs were brought to Port Washington. The dogs will be medically evaluated and spayed or neutered.

Some of the pups are ready to be adopted, while others will be available for adoption next Friday.
