RONKONKOMA - A heroes' welcome at MacArthur Airport as members of the National Guard's 106th Air Rescue Wing returned home from Afghanistan today.

Family and friends all waited anxiously to greet the 13 servicemen who just returned home from serving overseas. Even after months of waiting, the hourlong flight delay loved ones had to endure seemed much longer.

The airmen are members of the Security Forces Squadron of the 106th Air National Guard Rescue Wing.

The event was part of the 'Hometown Hero Welcome Program,' which was launched at MacArthur Airport two and a half years ago.
