MEDFORD - Police say the driver of a minivan was rushed to the hospital tonight after he crashed into a parked car, sending it flying though the living room of a Medford home.

According to authorities, a Jeep was parked in the driveway of 111 Tarpon Ave. when it was struck. Fire officials say the Jeep's gas tank ruptured when it went into the house, forcing them to move quickly to prevent a possible flash fire from the exhaust.

Officials say the driver was unconscious and taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital where he is undergoing tests. They say it is unclear what caused him to lose control, but believe low blood sugar levels may have contributed.
