Police say the driver of a Suburban rear-ended a pickup truck on Sunrise Highway near Route 112 in Patchogue at around 5:15 p.m.

PATCHOGUE - One person is dead and another injured tonight after the vehicle they were in rear-ended another car.

Police say the driver of a Suburban rear-ended a pickup truck on Sunrise Highway near Route 112 in Patchogue at around 5:15 p.m. A passenger in the back of the Suburban was thrown from the SUV and pronounced dead at the scene.

Another passenger, also sitting in the back seat of the Surburban, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center and is in critical condition.

The driver of the Suburban is facing a charge of driving while intoxicated. Police say the two passengers of the pickup truck were not injured in the accident.
