OCEANSIDE - Several people were injured, one of them critically, after a strong gust of wind sent three inflatable rides hurling through the air at a soccer festival in Oceanside on Saturday.
Police say a total of 13 people were rushed to area hospitals after the bouncy rides whipped around the crowded field with people inside of them.
Cathleen Hughes, of Oceanside, remains in critical but stable condition after suffering injuries to her head and spine, officials say.
A witness said sandbags were used as anchors, but apparently were not enough to keep the air-filled rides on the ground. Authorities say no criminal charges have been filed at this time.
The company that manufactures the bounce ride, Affordable Inflatables, says it has never had an accident in its decade-long history and followed all manufactures guidelines for staking down the slide and watching weather conditions.
