A new screening tool can help identify preeclampsia during a pregnant woman’s first trimester for the first time ever.
Labcorp says it has developed a test to see if someone has a high risk of developing the life-threatening complication.
Preeclampsia can cause high blood pressure that can lead to seizures, stroke, pre-term birth and other serious complications.
It usually develops after 20 weeks of pregnancy.
Labcorp says the test can be used between 11 and 14 weeks of the baby’s development.
