New child pornography charges filed against Joseph Valerio, of Smithtown
New charges have been filed against a Smithtown man already accused of forcing his girlfriend in Ukraine to videotape herself sexually abusing her 3-year-old daughter.
Prosecutors say Joseph Valerio is accused of producing child pornography involving a little girl in the basement of his Smithtown home. According to a complaint filed in federal court, investigators found 22 images of a 6-year-old girl on a memory card inside Valerio's computer room. It says the images of Jane Doe #2 showed the girl wearing a wig and a shirt, with no pants or underwear. Another picture allegedly shows the little girl posing on a couch wearing lace stockings. Authorities say other pictures are too graphic to detail.
Prosecutors say the girl admitted that Valerio took pictures of her during "sleepovers" at his home. The complaint also says the girl denies that Valerio ever took pictures of her without her clothes on. Prosecutors argue the denial is normal behavior of a young victim.
This is the second child pornography complaint Valerio is facing in less than a month.
Valerio had been out on $3.5 million bond. He is currently being held without bail.
