The 167th Street B and D station reopened with a new look that includes inspiring art.

Aunrico Gatson is behind some of the designs of mosaics that line the walls of the Grand Concourse station, which reopened Tuesday.

The art includes historic figures and legends, all of whom have a connection to the Bronx. The mosaics depict James Baldwin, Gil Scott-Heron, Maya Angelou, Reggie Jackson and more.

Gatson says he hopes kids see the figures and become curious about their story, if they don't already know who they are.

Gatson was chosen after he proposed his "Beacons" project to the MTA for its Artwork Commissioning Process. The artwork took a year to create.
