Nassau County police officers and state troopers are standing watch at the Bethpage Black as the historic golf course prepares to host the 2019 PGA Championship.
More than 200,000 fans are expected to come and go through Bethpage State Park.
Small bags are allowed, but Nassau Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder warns fans to keep their belongings close and to make sure to not leave anything on the ground.
More than 100 medical professionals from Northwell Health, including doctors, nurses and physical therapists, are also on hand to care for the players, caddies and spectators. They even have EMTs on mountain bikes who can quickly get anywhere on the course.
Medical professionals say the most common injuries among fans walking the course are fatigue, sprains and back pain. It takes about a full hour to get from the farthest hole back to the clubhouse.
Wednesday marked the last day of practice for the championship. Tee-off is Thursday, and the tournament continues through Sunday.
