The Nassau County Health Department reported the county?s first swine flu-related death Tuesday.
Health Commissioner Dr. Maria Torroella Carney says a woman who recently gave birth was diagnosed with the H1N1 virus June 15 and died Tuesday. The woman, between the ages of 20 and 30, was hospitalized June 5 with fever and respiratory symptoms, according to officials.
She gave birth to a healthy baby by C-section shortly after being admitted to the hospital and was transferred to intensive care two days later.
An autopsy will be performed by the Nassau County Medical Examiner's Office.
