Nassau lawmakers mull Suozzi's 2010 budget
Nassau lawmakers have their hands on County Executive Tom Suozzi?s proposed $2.6 billion budget and while there?s no increase in property taxes, critics say residents will have to pay in other ways.
Transportation advocates say hikes or service cuts could be on the horizon because the budget includes cuts to Long Island Bus. They?re lobbying Nassau lawmakers to restore that funding as well as funding to other key departments.
Minority Leader Leg. Peter Schmidt calls Suozzi?s budget, promising deep service cuts, smaller government and higher sales tax revenues, nothing more than a Ponzi scheme.
The public will have a chance to weigh in Oct. 19 when the legislature returns.
