A Hicksville couple is accused of stealing more than $12,000 in COVID relief funds.
The Nassau district attorney says Michael Arbassio and Eileen Dantini submitted fraudulent paperwork to the Town of Oyster Bay's COVID Emergency Rental Assistance Program.
Prosecutors say Dantini claimed she was Arbassio's landlord, and he claimed he was behind on rent and facing eviction.
They both face charges including grand larceny and are due back in court next week.
The couple is facing up to seven years in prison.
