Background: Hogan, 53, of Manhasset, is running on the Conservative Party line. He has been in private law practice in Jericho since 1998, litigating cases in the federal and state courts. He served as an assistant district attorney in the Nassau District Attorney's Office from 1993 to 1998, where he served in the County Court Trial Bureau and the Organized Crime Division. Hogan received his law degree in 1992 from New England School of Law. In 1993, he was admitted to practice law in New York State and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He was admitted to the U.S. District Court, Eastern, Southern and Northern Districts, in 1998 and to the U.S. Court of Appeals, First and Second Circuits, in 2003. Hogan is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association.
Catherine Rizzo
Republican
Background: Rizzo, 49, of Woodbury, is running on the Republican and Democratic Party lines in the general election. She is the principal law clerk for Supreme Court Justice Thomas Feinman from 2004 to the present. Rizzo was in private practice at the Law Offices of Arlene Zalayet, Esq., 1996-2004; Raymond Schwartzberg, Esq., 1995-1996; Mitchell, Incantalupo & Vafides, 1994-1995 litigating in the state and federal courts. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from New York University in 1990 and earned her law degree from Quinnipiac School of Law in 1993. Rizzo was admitted New York State Appellate Division, Second Department in 1994, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York in 1997, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York in 1999, State of New Jersey in 1993 and State of Connecticut in 1994. She is a member of Nassau County Bar Association, Nassau County Women's Bar Association, Law Secretary Association and American Bar Association.
