New tax assessment angers Babylon residents

Mayor Ralph Scaldino says homeowners, who stayed within their original home's footprint and only elevated or added solar panels, should not face higher assessments. But he says some people may have made additions and however small, they will need to pay accordingly.

The mayor suggested that residents concerned about their new assessments should attend grievance day where they can officially make their complaints to the assessor and plead their case. Grievance day will be held Feb. 18 from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the municipal building at 153 West Main Street in Babylon.
