MTA may soon upgrade Web site with better subway directions
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is reportedly voting on whether to upgrade its Web site with better subway directions for Bronx straphangers and tourists.
According to a New York Post report, an MTA committee is voting on a $1.3 million contract to hire Trapeze software. The software would provide accurate directions and maps for any itinerary. Additions to the Web site would also include a phone number that would connect callers with voice-recognition software to get specific directions.
The Post reports transit advocates have complained for years about the MTA?s current Web site?s poor directions. Transit officials agree that good directions are hard to come by.
