Rep. Anthony D'Esposito told News 12's Rich Barrabi that an expulsion vote for Rep. George Santos will "likely" take place tomorrow night in the House.
D’Esposito issued a motion last week to expel Santos on the House floor.
Under House rules, two-thirds must vote for the expulsion in order for it to happen.
As News 12 has reported, D’Esposito and Rep. Nick Lalota have been pushing hard in recent weeks to get Santos out of office.
The move comes after a federal indictment accused Santos of using donors' credit cards to rack up thousands in unauthorized charges.
The charges include allegedly stealing donor identities and racking up thousands in fraudulent charges on their credit cards.
According to prosecutors, Santos charged more than $44,000 to his campaign from donors’ credit cards without them knowing it. Then, prosecutors said a vast majority of that money went into his personal bank account.
The congressman has been charged with 23 total counts that include allegedly laundering funds, false statements and lying to the House of Representatives.
