Morrisania community rallies to keep multi-service center from moving
Community members rallied at the Bronx County Courthouse Wednesday in an effort to keep the Morrisania Multi-Service Center from moving. The city?s Department of Education (DOE) took over the building and has been trying to get groups housed in the center evicted. In February, leaders of organizations arrived at the building and found the doors locked. The center?s president said the eviction was not supposed to happen so soon and the organizations were allowed back in. Now, they say they will continue their fight to stay in the building. Elected officials tell us they reached out to Mayor Michael Bloomberg (R-NYC) about sitting down to find a resolution to the problem. They say if he won't help, then they'll continue to rally until something is done.
