Morris Houses tenants sue NYCHA
Tenants from the Morris Houses are suing NYCHA, claiming that they are being forced to live in deplorable conditions.
The 25 tenants in the lawsuit say they have to deal with broken windows, leaks and mold. Some of the tenants also say they have a rat problem in their apartments. They claim repair requests are going unanswered or the repairs have to be redone.
Tenants say they are not against NYCHA, but that they have a right to live in safe and healthy apartments.
In a statement, NYCHA says, "Under new leadership, NYCHA has made major strides in reducing its repairs backlog and wait times and continues to make progress."
