The Morris County Office of Emergency Management says it's been prepared for snow since Friday night.

They say they have salted the roads, have plows ready, and first responders on standby.

Officials say the 911 call center in Morris County's public safety building in Morristown gets a spike in calls once snow begins to fall. The center can get up to 3,000 calls on a typical day.

Workers spent the night pre-treating roads and clearing up after a smaller snow event Thursday into Friday. They came back in the early afternoon for one last pass before the roads turn white.

Special units of the sheriff's office have been told to be ready to assist any town that might need extra law enforcement help due to snow emergencies.

About 350 beds are on standby and a temporary floor can be placed over the county ice rink to create an emergency shelter.

Officials say a Friday conference call brought together more than 80 representatives of law enforcement, the Red Cross and utility companies.

A group of mayors and freeholders from Morris County met Saturday to discuss storm preparations.
