Co-op City's private police department and lobby attendants went on strike Wednesday after their contract expired at midnight. The Police Benevolent Association (PBA), the union that represents the officers, says a contract agreement couldn?t be reached with the building management company, Riverbay Corporation. According to PBA officials, sticking points include staffing cuts, pensions and benefits. Co-op City is comprised of 35 buildings and has about 55,000 residents. Most agree the officers do a good job and say they feel safer with them around. News 12 The Bronx is waiting to hear from the Riverbay Corporation regarding the strike.
