The track and field at McCarren Park is closing for a yearlong renovation project.
The $4 million makeover will replace the entire track and field as well as upgrade the adult fitness area and install more benches and trees.
One resident tells News 12 that the field seems to be being used more than ever, but is worn out and could use the renovation.
Others, however, say that the money allotted for the upgrade could be better utilized elsewhere, like for the cleanup of other areas in Greenpoint and Williamsburg.
