Mayor de Blasio announces expansion of summer enrichment programs
Mayor de Bill Blasio announced Tuesday that he is doubling the number of seats for this summer's student enrichment programs from 17,000 to 34,000.
Schools Chancellor Carmen Farina was also with the mayor at CMSP 327. She says the programs are high-quality and "not babysitting."
Each school will have programs unique to the needs of students that attend it.
The mayor also announced a $52 million grant to create 40 community schools across the city. He says these schools will offer services ranging from homework help to family counseling.
