A man who was recently released from prison is vowing to make things up to his young daughter, and his efforts began with a big surprise.

Nakailah Burton thought she was in trouble when her camp administrators pulled her aside and asked her to come into an office. Instead, it was a moment she will never forget.

Burton saw her father and ran to him. She says it was the best day ever.

"It feels really good because I never got to spend a lot of time with him," Burton says. Her father had been in prison for half of her life.

Incarcerated at Sing Sing Correctional Facility until recently, Johnny Burton says he has not seen his family in the last five years, aside from a handful of visits.

It is not clear why Burton was in prison, but he says he is vowing to stay out of trouble to not put his family through the same pain again.
