Local agencies discuss coastal storm planning for New York City
The city's Office of Emergency Management met with several other local agencies Monday to talk about how to work together more efficiently when preparing for potential natural disasters.
The goal was to brainstorm how each vital agency can help the others during future coastal storms and how each can make quick decisions that will save lives.
Mayor Bill de Blasio stressed that preparation up to 80 hours before a storm hits is a necessity, especially with New York being one of the largest coastal cities.
City agencies say communication and teamwork are essential to handling any storm situation.
