Livery cab drivers in New York City are continuing to seek a resolution to their protests against what they feel are unfair fining practices by the Taxi and Limousine Commission.

Drivers took to the streets twice this week to voice their displeasure, with representatives saying they want the TLC to come to the table with options to better enforce policies.

Many of the fines that are being referenced relate to picking up street hails, which livery cab drivers are not allowed to do. But drivers say that fines are too much, and not being able to pick up those customers is hurting their bottom line.

A union representative for TLC officers say that their job isn't to hurt livery cab drivers, but to help consumers.

One of the protests this week ended with a damaged TLC officer vehicle after a protesting driver took a bat to it.

The founder of the State Federation of Taxi Drivers says that they do not condone the violence, but understand the frustration drivers are experiencing, and hope that fining tactics are eventually changed.

News 12 has learned that both parties plan to sit down and hope to come to a resolution this coming Tuesday.
