Long Island Rail Road says service is back up and running on the Ronkonkoma branch after an earlier accident involving a train and car.

According to the LIRR, the train and vehicle collided in Bethpage at around 6 a.m., leading to headaches for riders, and the third-rail pierced. The third-rail has since been fixed.

According to officials, a woman did not know she was making a left turn onto the track when her car got stuck. The woman was able to jump out of the vehicle before the train hit.

Last week, there were daylong delays after a power failure shut down LIRR signal systems near the East River tunnels.

On Thursday morning, buses were provided, and train repair crews spent the early hours splicing rails damaged by the wayward SUV.

Despite complaints from some, the delays were nowhere near the volume of last week.

"Anything that happens, we are the last ones to know, the passengers are the last ones to know," said Wagner Santiago, of Farmingdale.



The LIRR says it put out over 100 announcements, emails and Tweets letting people know about all of the delays Thursday morning because of the crash,

The LIRR says 26 trains were affected by the accident.
